Top Mobile Apps for Entrepreneurs

As VAs, we’re digital nomads. We’ve got emails coming in, messages in draft and appointments to keep track of. And in the middle of all that, you’ve got to remember to sleep, take care of yourself, and maintain your sanity!

That can be tough to do when you’re on the go, but I have a few go-to mobile apps that I use to help me manage my schedule. Since I’m always getting asked what apps I use for everything from making sure I send those important emails to logging some much-needed rest and meditation, I wrote this list of Top Mobile Apps for Entrepreneurs in 2017.

Let’s get started!

Email

Boomerang for GMail

Systems: iOS and Android

Price: Free for Basic Plan

You’re always striving for Inbox Zero, and Boomerang can help you win the battle with the click of a button. Archive messages to come back to your inbox at a scheduled time, or tell set a reminder to follow up within a specific time if you don’t receive a reply to your email. Boomerang helps me and my team stay on top of emails so no one slips through the cracks. It’s like having an assistant, for a fraction of the cost!

Bonus: Boomerang lets you write an email now and schedule it to be sent later, so you can draft those messages at midnight if you want and schedule them to be sent in the morning, without having to remember to do it manually!

Voice Recording

Recordify for Slack

Systems: iOS

Price: Free

*Only available in the U.S. App Store

Sometimes you don’t have time to type out important reminders or information for your team, or maybe you prefer to record your messages rather than pound them out on the keyboard. Recordify is the app for you! Its single purpose is to record your thoughts and send them in audio files to your private groups or through direct messages on Slack.

BonusThere’s now a multi-account feature that lets you log in to all your teams!

Sleep

Sleep Cycle

Systems: iOS and Android

Price: Free

This isn’t your average alarm clock! Where regular clocks are shrill and wake you unnaturally from a dead sleep to fully alert (often motivating you to slap that snooze button), I set the Sleep Cycle app on my (PHONE) for 7 a.m. Between 6:30 a.m. and 7, it monitors my sleep patterns and detects when I’m in my lightest slumber within that half-hour and setting my alarm off at that time. Using this method, I find it far easier to wake up in the morning.

Sleep Stream 2

Systems: iOS

Price: $2.99, plus optional in-app purchases

*Only available in the U.S. App Store

I need background noise while I work, and Sleep Stream is my go-to app. Its binaural beats and isocronic tones are perfect – they’re there, but not so distracting that I end up listening to the music instead of logging deeply focused hours for clients. Grab your favourite pair of headphones and the app today – you won’t regret it.

Meditation

Headspace

Systems: iOS and Android

Price: Free

Client meetings, tight deadlines, a pile of work on my desk and a full to-do list can add up to a lot of stress! Luckily, I’ve got Headspace – a guide to meditation that fits right in my pocket. Meditating can help us reduce our daily stress, improve our focus, and even enhances compassionate behaviour towards others…which comes in handy in tense negotiations.

Bonus: With hundreds of themed sessions on everything from stress to sleep, bite-sized meditations for your busy schedule, and SOS exercises for when you’re at your tipping point, this app offers an all-in-one solution, for free!

What’d I miss? Tell me about your favourite apps in a comment, I’m a sucker for a great app!
